Since I'm still working on pictures, I thought I would add in some details of what I've been doing. If you haven't noticed I'm terribly behind in my blogging BUT there's an upside to this! I've been writing at least one sentence in my journal every night. I love it! It's been far too long since I've been this diligent in writing in my journal. It's become my best friend that I know I can confide in and not worry about it saying anything I don't want to hear. It's definitely a place where I can express all my feelings about anything! I've been writing in it so much that I'm almost finished with this one (this is my 3rd)!
One of the things I've been doing as well is reading my grandpa's autobiography. I'm slowly but surely getting through it. I won't be able to gain my own copy of it until I get married. Major bummer! But the other thing I've been doing is reading one of my old textbooks from this past semester. It's actually from my religion class (go figure). There's a lot of cool quotes in it. I'm marking it up like nobody's business! But I have one quote in here that just made me cry when I read it. Yes, it touched my heart that much! (It's for the young women, mind you.)
"Our priorities are right when we realize there is no higher calling than to be an honorable wife and mother." - President Ezra Taft Benson
While there are many others that I love, there are very few that I can and will post to share with the world. Hopefully one day I can share a lot of these current thoughts and feelings when the time is right.

Learning Through Life's Trials
"We are not always healed from pain and sickness. Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve has said, Sometimes we are 'healed' by being given strength or understanding or patience to bear the burdens placed upon us." (pg 30)
Those things were but for a moment (pg 31)

The Understanding
Yes, I'm scared. I'm scared that I'll fail. Scared that everything I've been working towards will never come, never happen. Scared that everything I've done was in vain.
But I also understand.
Thank you for the understanding.
"The Final Judgment is not just an evaluation of a sum total of good and evil acts--what we have done. It is an acknowledgment of the final effect of our acts and thoughts--what we have become. It is not enough for anyone just to go through the motions...The Master's reward in the Final Judgment will not be based on how long we have labored in the vineyard. We do not obtain our heavenly reward by punching a time clock. What is essential is that our labors in the work place of the Lord have caused us to become something. For some of us this requires a longer time than for others. What is important in the end is what we have become by our labors."
- Elder Oaks
"We may foolishly bring unhappiness and trouble, even suffering upon ourselves. These are not always to be regarded as penalties imposed by a displeased Creator. They are part of the lessons of life, part of the test.
Some are tested by poor health, some by a body that is deformed or homely. Others are tested by handsome and healthy bodies; some by the passion of youth; others by the erosions of age. Some suffer disappointment in marriage, family problems; others live in poverty and obscurity. Some (perhaps this is the hardest test) find ease and luxury. All are part of the test, and there is more equality in this testing than sometimes we suspect."
-Boyd K. Packer

What a Cute Baby!!!

Yes, this cute little baby is me! Everyone on facebook is changing their profile pictures to their baby pictures. But I really got to thinking about babies in my religion class today. Brother Anderson shared this quote with us:
Everywhere in nature we are taught the lessons of patience and waiting. We want things a long time before we get them, and the fact that we wanted them a long time makes them all the more precious when they come . . . A man has a much greater capacity to enjoy that for which he has labored for a number of years than one who has a similar object given to him.
(President Joseph F. Smith, Gospel Doctrine, pp. 297-298)
I won't lie. There are definitely moments when I yearn for my own kids that are not yet to be born. But that quote did remind me of that yearning and also brought me peace.
I hope it brings peace to anyone else that is also seeking it.

A Real Man
"...a real man has a sensitive heart and a listening ear. A real man is someone who can respect a woman, even if he doesn't agree with her. And it doesn't matter whether he can change the oil, or drive a tractor-or even walk. It doesn't matter what he wears, or how he talks, or what he does for a living...That's what makes you a real man...You always have been. You always will be. And let me add that I think a real man isn't afraid to be a nursemaid to his invalid wife or to change diapers, or to bathe babies. And a real man's not afraid to cry or admit he can't do everything alone. That's why you're my hero...Because you understand what's really important. Back when we were just friends, you were the one who taught me that I could believe in myself; that the good inside of me was the only thing that really mattered...And through the years together, you've taught me a great deal about faith...You've carried me through times when I couldn't carry myself. You loved me in spite of myself, and you taught me to believe in my potential and reach for it; to find the qualities in my that really mattered..."

Looking & Quotes
Looking **Copyrighted
Passing by everyday,
You're the crazy, goofy kid,
I'm the quiet, conservative one,
She's the strong, active young woman,
We think we can see it all,
We know all that there is,
Seeing the surface
And all that there is
More beyond our eyes
Is hidden
The goofy kid is unsure and scared,
Conservative has secrets that judge,
She's the one who's crying behind closed doors
Wishing life was over.
Your older reflection stares back at you
Saying you should know better,
Just because you see it,
Doesn't mean you're looking at the truth.
"But it can also present a greater possibility of misunderstanding and sometimes even prejudice if we allow others to define who we are and what we believe rather than presenting it ourselves."

Random/Fun/Amazing Quote
"A great marriage is not when the 'perfect couple' comes together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences." -Dave Meurer
